SANITARY REGIME

Implementation of restrictions resulting from the guidelines of the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate in the case of the risk increase. Frequent hand disinfection or regular and thorough hand washing with soap and water, obligation to keep a safe distance of at least 1.5 m. Obligation to cover the nose and mouth. Body temperature control of individuals entering the University premises. University premises closed to third parties. Obligation to limit direct contact to a minimum. Use of classrooms is suspended until further notice, frequent ventilation of rooms, frequent disinfection of touch surfaces, and sanitary facilities.

DIDACTICS

Education is provided solely with the use of distance learning methods and techniques.

AVAILABILITY

The University is closed for third parties, employees and students with the exceptions determined by the Rector.

Organisation of education

  1. Education is conducted with the use of distance learning methods and techniques only.
  2. Absence from classes using the synchronous interaction between students and teachers is justified by a teacher in accordance with the procedure specified in the Study Regulations. In the event of longer absence, a student should report this fact to the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Student Affairs. Any learning backlog resulting from the absence from classes or differences in study programmes of persons transferring from another field of study, from another University or resuming studies at the Silesian University of Technology, need to be completed by a student through their individual work, after consultation with a teacher.
  3. Consultations are conducted only remotely in accordance with the agreed schedule, which is made available to students.
  4. Verification of the achieved learning outcomes, including credits and examinations is carried out with the use of distance learning methods and techniques under the terms specified in the Rector’s ordinance.
  5. Diploma examinations are conducted with the use of electronic means of communication.

Information is provided by the Vice Dean for Education responsible for the field of study, as well as by the Student Service Office and the Studies Service Centre.

Organisation and participation in events

All events in the University are conducted in a in a remote mode.

  1. Foreign mobility of students, related to the course of studies or their function at the University, is suspended.

On a regular basis a student is obliged to become familiar with recommendations and guidelines, regarding the sanitary safety, published at the University, as well as with all decisions, recommendations and guidelines issued by the State Sanitary Inspectorate or other state services and bodies carrying out tasks in the field of public health.
  2. A student is obliged to monitor the current epidemiological situation in the country.
  3. A student is obliged to follow the instructions of employees, resulting from the applicable risk level.

Organisation of education

  2. If it is not possible to participate in classes for a longer period of time, the doctoral student reports this fact via email to the Head of Doctoral Studies or to the Head of Doctoral School respectively (using the email in the @polsl.pl domain)

  3. Consultations with the research tutor/academic supervisor are conducted only remotely.

  4. Verification of the achieved learning outcomes, including credits and examinations is carried out with the use of distance learning methods and techniques under the terms specified in the Rector’s ordinance.

  5. Internships in the form of conducting classes or participating in conducting classes are carried out with the use of distance learning methods and techniques.

  6. Detailed organisation of education is specified in the Rector’s ordinance.

Organisation of scientific work

  1. Organisation of scientific work is carried out in accordance with detailed principles applicable in the basic unit.
  2. Access to research and laboratory infrastructure takes place in compliance with terms applicable in the basic unit, who at the same time, is the administrator of this infrastructure.
  3. The Rector may define additional rules for the organisation of scientific work.

Principles for remote work:

  • when ordering remote work, the immediate superior agrees the communication channels with the employee and the way of distributing instructions, tasks and the results of remote work;
  • an employee performing remote work is obliged to perform the assigned tasks within their standard working hours. In exceptional circumstances an employee may agree flexible working hours of remote work with their immediate superior in the amount specified in the employment contract;
  • the immediate superior provides an employee with the schedule of tasks;
  • an employee provides the immediate superior with the work results in an electronic form;
  • the immediate superiors are supposed to maintain constant contact with employees performing remote work and to archive orders and work results.

Additional work guidelines:

In the case of units necessary to maintain continuity of work combining remote and on-site work within one day, it should be taken into account that the commuting time is included in the working time.

In terms of correspondence and handling various matters:

  • Direct contact of employees at work is reduced to a minimum, using email correspondence and telephone channels, as well as transferring all paper documentation by internal post system;
  • The collection and delivery of correspondence within the internal post system at the Silesian University of Technology takes place in accordance with the schedule set out in the Ordinance No 61/08/09 of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology of 6 May 2009 on the introduction of the internal post system at the Silesian University of Technology;
  • Access to the buildings is not allowed, except for employees performing on-site work. In the case of on-site work, access to all University buildings takes place with the maintenance of the supervision of the academic guards and a receptionist. Everyone entering a University building undergoes a temperature control in accordance with the Procedure.

Check-in/ check-out procedure

Ban on check-in for new residents. Ban on visits. Implementation of procedures for quick and safe check-out from a dormitory by previous arrangement of dates by email or by phone. During the check-out, the resident has direct contact with one employee only.

General rules

Limited possibility to leave dormitories.

Ban on leaving dormitories temporarily, ban on temporary departures of inhabitants, leaving the place of residence only in order to satisfy essential living or health needs, having informed the administration or reception desk in advance, ban on leaving without a valid (health) reason between 11 pm and 6 am, contact with the administration only by phone or email.

Public areas

Strict application of sanitary regime. It is possible for only two people to stay in public areas at the same time.

Payments

As a rule, on-line transfers are made to the dormitory account. Current information is available on the Student Campus website in the Announcement tab.

Guests visits

Ban on all visits (also among the residents of the Student Campus, between student/teacher residence halls).

Same as for Levels 1 and 2, with the following changes:

  • access to the infrastructure and laboratories is limited to persons with personal access permit issued by the Head of  Basic Unit;
  • The Head of Basic Unit shall issue such a permit only in the most important cases, when the lack of persons authorized to access the area with infrastructure and laboratories would cause serious damage to the University or when it is necessary for reasons of great importance for the University.

Organisation of classes

Classes are conducted only in a remote mode.

Sports and recreational activities

Sports facilities are closed.

Lease of sports facilities is not available.

Organisational and order security

In public areas, including administration, the following shall apply:

  • number of people in the building is limited to a minimum,
  • strict monitoring of entrances and exits of the building,
  • strict sanitary regime,
  • frequent monitoring of full sanitary regime,
  • use of didactic classrooms is forbidden.

Same as for Levels 1 and 2 with the following change below:

No access to the buildings for employees, students and doctoral students, except for persons indicated for on-site work by the superiors of appropriate level.

Only the Lending Room is open from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm, on Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm.

Books should be returned by placing them into the baskets located at the Library reception desk (main entrance, 23 Kaszubska Street).

Baskets are available till 7 pm.

Reading Rooms and Individual Study Zones are not available to Readers.

  • Collections in Reading Rooms are available only in exceptional circumstances upon prior arrangement of the date with an employee of the Reading Room by phone or email.
  • New Readers sign up by email to the Lending Room: wypozycz@polsl.pl to activate an account. Upon receiving a return email, books can be ordered. In order to collect books, a student ID card needs to be presented, within 24 hours from the ordering time, and within 14 days.
  • First year students are invited to read the presentation about Library and the Guidebook.
  • It is recommended that SUT students and employees use electronic collections, also available from home computers via the HAN system and the training available on the Distance Education Platform Library Collections and Services for Distance Education.
  • Academic teachers are encouraged to submit publications intended for remote sharing in the Didactic Digital Library.
  • The Library provides scanning services of the materials pre-ordered by email (parts of books, articles from magazines) at the reader’s individual request.

Safety rules introduced in the Library

  • Previously arranged guests, including persons providing services (representatives of companies) are obliged to fill out an appropriate form (at the Library Reception Desk).
  • Employees and the visiting guests should strictly follow the preventive measures presented and updated by the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate and the Polish Ministry of Health.
  • The Library operates in accordance with the principles specified in the Rector’s Ordinances (available on the website of the Silesian University of Technology and in hard copies – available in Reading Rooms).
  • At the entrance to the Library, there is an obligatory body temperature control (at the reception desk) and hands should be disinfected.
  • It is mandatory to cover the mouth and nose and to keep social distance while in the Library.
  • A person showing clear signs of a disease (such as temperature above 37,5°C, persistent cough and breathing difficulties) shall not be allowed to enter the Library.
  • For the readers’ safety, all returned books are quarantined for 3 days. After that period they can be made available again.
